You are Being Healed!

I’m picking up from last week’s talk about exposure—how God is exposing things in this day. He is shining light on that which has found its power in darkness. Peter says, “Judgement starts in the house of God,” and we’ve seen that unfold shockingly, repeatedly and publicly and not just in the church, but also in politics and in the highest echelons of society.

Every public humiliation of leaders will have started with God speaking to their hearts first, in private. Where they didn’t listen, he will have sent others to tell them, and where they still did not heed, He sent life and circumstances!

But God isn’t just exposing leaders of mega-churches. He’s exposing each of us—and not just sin  but the hidden places in our hearts, our wounds, our traumas, our fears and our pain - not because God is vindictive; He exposes because He wants to heal us.

God is shining light on the inner wiring of who we are, the places we hide, the false identities we carry. The glory of God is coming close to the church, and the closer He comes, the more our hidden selves are revealed. Falsehood and hypocrisy cannot stand in His presence! His holiness burns away the darkness—not to shame, but to purify.

One of the major themes the Lord speaks to me about is around identity and voice. Your voice is so much more than words; it’s the spirit you release. When we speak, we reveal what spirit we carry. God wants a pure bride, a people whose words reflect His words, whose voice in the earth represents Him.

Zephaniah 3:9 speaks of a people whose impure language is replaced with a clear, pure speech, from pure lips so all may call upon the Lord with one united voice. God is purifying the church—not just what we say, but the deep places of who we are , our identity, our spirit, our voice.

This is an ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. I shared last time about a recent skiing trip—my first in almost 50 years! It was terrifying at first; I felt utterly incompetent and spent much of the first half of the first day on my bottom! I noticed on this trip an old and familiar dread, and despite my lack of skill at skiing (!) it felt disproportionate and wrong. Nerves yes.. but not dread (I was actually enjoying myself!).  As I questioned it and asked the Lord what was going on, He revealed an old abandonment wound and literally a day later I had the most beautiful encounter with The Holy Spirit who showed me deeply and profoundly through an image of Charlie Mackesys bronze ‘The Return of the Prodigal’, how high and wide and deep and long is the love of God for me and how strongly and fiercely I am held and embraced. The Father was healing abandonment and bringing revelation of deep attachment and abiding.

Once home from the trip, I continued sitting with the Holy Spirit and asking questions.

I saw a balloon in my tummy (my inmost being). I knew it had always been there but it had been deflated.. and I saw the Holy Spirit fill that ballon with air. He reminded me of Ephesians 3:16: “I pray that out of Your glorious riches, You will strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being.” Spirit is pneuma… breath! God breathing life into the deflated places of my life and your life -  the areas where we’ve never fully been able to live in His fullness.

On the same day, I received a prophetic word that revealed a very similar narrative. The Lord showed me I had a fractured spine… that I had been trying to stand up into who I am in Christ, but had not been able to fully stand, because of the fracture.

A day later I was asking Jesus ‘ what really important thing do you want me to know right now?’ and He answered with one word. A Greek word: KATARTISMOS! It was so loud in my spirit and when I looked up the meaning, I was astonished. It is found only once in the New Testament, in Ephesians 4: the passage about Jesus ascending and giving gifts to me.. ‘and He gave some TO BE apostles, prophets, teachers, shepherd and evangelists’. Why? For the EQUIPPING (Katartismos) of the saints for the works of service, so that they may be brought to full maturity.. to the full stature of Him who is the head.

Jesus is firstly confirming very accurately what I already believed was my identity in Him (to equip and train the church as a prophetic teacher).

But mind-blowingly Katartismos literally means ‘to set a broken or a fractured bone.'

How amazing is God! And church he is not just doing this in me. He is doing this in His all of us who are His beloved. He is enabling us to stand up fully - STRAIGHT into who we are in Him!

He is healing our backbone so we can STAND up into our commission  and into the fullness of our identity!

This isn’t about performance or pretending - as the Holy Spirit gently and tenderly exposes what hides in darkness within us, our job is to partner with Him in that exposing - not to run from His gaze and His embrace but to lean in to Him with our full weight and to put off of all that is false and come into total alignment with God’s identity for us.
