Everything that can be shaken will be shaken!

A couple of weeks ago, when I was in the liminal place between being awake and asleep I heard something in my spirit. I heard it on 3 or 4 separate occasions during the same night. It was a very distinctive sound, but not one I had heard anywhere before that I could recall, so I parked it awaiting further revelation / clarity. The only word that came to me to describe this sound was ‘shuttering’.

Then a week later on Tuesday 21 November, my friend sent me a clip of seismic activity recorded in Grindavik, Iceland, that had been turned into sound waves, with the title

‘If the human ear could hear impending seismic activity’

The sound of seismic activity was exactly the ‘shuttering’ sound I had heard in my ‘half-dream’ state.

Then the next night, drifting off to sleep I heard it again and during that night had a dream about a tsunami that was being unleashed on the earth.

The last time I dreamt about a tsumani (the two waves) it was in January 2019 and I knew that a wave of chaos was about to sweep over the earth and a year later the global pandemic was unleashed!!

As I sat with this I felt to look up the root meaning of seismic. It is from the Greek Seien, which means ‘to shake’.

There is another wave of shaking and chaos that is about to be unleashed on the earth. Whenever there is a shaking in the spiritual realm it is reflected in the earth. Whenever there is war in the spiritual realm it is reflected in the earth.

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake (seisō) not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing (and transformation) of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:25-29

God is shaking and will shake EVERYTHING that can be shaken.

What is the purpose of this shaking? It is to REMOVE and TRANSFORM everything that can be shaken.

What can be shaken? Created things!

And what exactly are created things? The word for created things is poieo: It literally means to make and to do. Everything that man does or that man makes in the earth will be shaken.

This is a hard word!

The only things that will ultimately remain are the things of the Kingdom!

In order to understand this further, I find that its helpful to go back to seismology which is the study of earthquakes. Earthquakes happen (very simply) when there is friction between 2 tectonic plates along a fault line which causes a sudden breaking apart / a splitting of the ground along that fault line. The etymology of tectonic, from Greek, is build.

I have a question for you. How are you building? How we have been building is being exposed right now in the earth.

Matthew 7:24-27 speaks of the wise and foolish builders. One built his house on rock, the other on sand and when adverse conditions came, when the storms and the shaking came only the house built on the rock survived. The house built on sand fell with a great crash.

There is a way to build that withstands storms and shaking and it’s this: To build on the rock of the revelation of Jesus Christ; hearing HIS words and putting them into practice. When we do that we are Kingdom builders. It’s not always easy to be a Kingdom builder because it requires FAITH! You can’t build the Kingdom using systems and means of the flesh. You can’t build out of sense and reason and logic. Faith often doesn’t make sense but nevertheless it is the currency of the Kingdom. It will take great faith to build on the rock but that is the only way to do it! Unbelief will be shaken, pride will be shaken, doubt will be shaken, fear will be shaken.

Faith is tested every time there is a shaking so that our faith comes forth as gold!

The middle ground is disappearing as the fault lines are revealed in all of our making and doing and the tectonic plates are forced apart.

We usually associate shaking with judgement of sin but it is also to do with the revealing of that which is built on rock. That which is eternal and true and faith-filled and glorious.

There are promises attached to shaking for those who have built in such a way!

“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” Haggai 2:6-9

Promises of provision and glory and peace!!

And in Acts 4:31, we read this:

And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

And this in Acts 16:26

…. suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.

Promises of fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, promises of release from prison!

Deep darkness is descending over the earth, but for you who belong to Jesus, you will arise and shine. You will become more glorious, more filled with the Holy Spirit. Areas where you have been bound in your soul will come into freedom as the shaking looses and unshackles your prison doors. You will step into and inhabit the truth of Philippians 4:5-7… the peace of God that passes ALL understanding guarding your heart and mind.

For those who belong to Jesus, your prison doors are about to fly open, you are about to step into freedom. The grave cannot hold you! There is no prison that can hold you. Jesus is roaring before the entrance to your tomb, just as He did with Lazarus. I know most translations tell us he was deeply moved, (and we assume this was a private, quiet, polite emotion) but the Greek reveals that He was full of indignation and that He snorted and roared with rage! He will not leave you bound. You are not forsaken or forgotten! He will not leave you under resourced. He is calling you forth into position; you are being shaken into position right now! You are being shaken into your mandate. And as you build HIS house know that the glory of the Lord is coming to fill it! Know that silver and gold are coming. Provision is coming! His equipping is being shaken into your lap!! Not for the amassing of personal wealth and prodigal living, but to equip and furnish the advancement of the Kingdom of God in the earth! And when men faint from fear because of the shaking (Luke 21:26) your hearts and minds will be garrisoned with a peace that does not come from this realm. It is promised... 'and in this place I will grant peace'.

And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7-14

Prayer:

Lord let everything that keeps me bound be shaken from me. Lord I surrender to you again! I yield to you.. in you only am I fixed and stable, immovable and steadfast because you are The Rock and you keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you.

Gracious Lord, as fainting fear descends on an apostate world because its foundations are shaken, will you fling open up the prison doors for those trapped in the confines of their own souls. Will You bring about a removal of everything in us that is not of you; will You orchestrate a transformation in our souls, will You cause gold to come forth within us as trials and tests come against us and will You fill us with Your glory and grant us peace that passes understanding: peace that the world cannot create and does not know.

Lord as the earth reels, may a multitude be shaken free from darkness and delivered into your glorious light.
