The red line.

On 15 Jan this year I kept hearing the word Rubicon over and over.

I knew that it has come to mean ‘a bounding or limiting line / a crossing over into a place of no return’ but other than that, I didn’t know anything about the origins of the idiom.

I looked it up: it’s from the historic account of Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon river in Northern Italy with his troops in 43bc from Gaul into the home province of Rome. It was a declaration of war.

The words ‘declaration of war’ have resounded in my spirit since. I put this on the back burner, because I wasn’t sure what it pertained to but last Wednesday I asked the Lord what he wanted to say about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and he immediately reminded me of the Rubicon.

This is what I believe the Lord is saying:

• We have passed a point of no return.

• This is a declaration of war.

• The heart of Western governance will be a casualty of this war: the political, economic, religious ideologies of the west (where Rome represents the governing centre of an empire)

And just as the Rubicon represented a threshold / a boundary. Ukraine is a threshold / a boundary between east and west.

A couple of weeks before the Rubicon word I was reading Jeremiah and chapter 48 leapt out; it tells of Jeremiah’s pronouncement of judgement against Moab:

Moab has been at rest from youth, like wine left on its dregs, not poured from one jar to another— she has not gone into exile. So she tastes as she did, and her aroma is unchanged. But days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will send men who pour from pitchers, and they will pour her out; they will empty her pitchers and smash her jars. Jeremiah 48:11-12 NIV

Like Moab, this generation in the western world have been at rest from youth. Like wine left on its dregs, we have not gone into exile and our taste has become bitter and the Lord is sending those who will pour us out.

The Moabites were the descendants of the sons born from the incestuous relationship between righteous Lot and his daughters.

The Spirit of the Lord says:

Oh church of the western world, you came from righteousness but you are guilty of committing spiritual incest, where you have not come to Me, or been intimate with Me, but instead you have reproduced heretical paradigms, systems and structures that are devoid of My Spirit, because you have leaned on and trusted in and been intimate more with what has gone before than you have with Me and you have become echo chambers of emptiness and you have become a powerless church.

My heart was in my mouth last Wednesday listening to someone who is in the British Isles Council of prophets saying that the great humiliation of the west has begun and that Europe and America are going into exile.

A red line has been crossed (a reference to the rubicon which means red)

I cried out to the Lord and asked Him what are we to do and He reminded me that He is in control and even this great pouring out is an act of His grace and he reminded me that He also was first poured out for us:

And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:5

This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matt 26:28

And the eyes of the Lord are roaming the earth looking for those into whom He can pour out His love and His Spirit. He is looking for the surrendered ones, the ones with hearts and hands that are empty of the things of the world. He is looking for those, who like Christ Jesus, have been emptied and who have emptied themselves and made themselves of no reputation. I saw angels with pitchers in heaven beginning to pour out the new wine of His Spirit into the empty ones. And the spirit of the Lord says.. I am your refuge! Trust Me at all times… pour yourself out before me (psalm 62:8) so that I can pour My Spirit out into you, (Joel 2:28) for I am raising up my end time army who are filled with my spirit and who will fight with spirit weapons that are not the weapons of the world, but have divine power to demolish strongholds.

For although we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defences behind which people hide. We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One. 2 Corinthians10: 4-5 TPT
