Your Liberated Voice!

Zephaniah 3:9 says:

For then (changing their impure language) I will give to the people a clear and pure speech from pure lips, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one unanimous consent and one united shoulder (bearing the yoke of the Lord).

A clear and pure speech from pure lips! This is not simply watching our words and choosing kindness over gossip (as much as I would encourage you to do that!) This is speech that comes from pure lips. The Hebrew for pure here is ‘barar’ which also means purged, tested, chosen, sharpened. A people are emerging in the earth who, like Isaiah have cried out ‘woe is me for I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell amongst a people of unclean lips’! A people who have felt burning coals touch their lips. A people who have submitted to the refiner’s fire and the launder’s soap. A people who are learning to dwell with everlasting fire! A purified people! 

There is a mighty voice calling from heaven saying:

Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’  She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.

Then I heard another voice from heaven say:

... Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues. Revelation 18:2-4

This is not poetic langauge, this is a clarion call to the church to come out of mixture where she has mingled with and joined herself to the systems of this world. The church must be separated unto Christ so that when she speaks her voice amplifies heaven and so that a world desperate for truth can hear a pure clear message and a pure clear invitation to 'come to the waters and drink, all you who are thirsty'.
